Why This Record Exists

Record, Not Rumor and Facts or Fallacies were created because the public record is increasingly forced to compete with something faster, louder, and easier to share: narrative.

A screenshot is repeated until it becomes “evidence.” An opinion is reposted until it becomes “fact.” A theory is copied across accounts until repetition is mistaken for corroboration. Content that provokes anger, fear, certainty, or outrage travels farther than careful sourcing ever will.

And once a narrative becomes emotionally satisfying, correcting it becomes harder than creating it ever was.

This project exists to push in the opposite direction.
